It’s been a while since I have posted and my apologies to you guys. I have been flat out working on a couple of projects and next week I will be launching Bootstrapedia Bootcamp so its been absolutely intense. I love it like that but I guess some things need to be put aside while I laser my focus on a few things.

But I read this article on the Warrior Forum and thought I must share it. Here it is:

Hi All,

If you want to be a success in Internet Marketing you would do well to take a lesson from an old Coot.

I call the Coot old because he/she has been around for a long long time.

You see the Coot is a bird that lives in Argentina, Bolivia and Chile.

At a certain time of year the Coots have a need for a nest so they can procreate Coot style.

Now you would think Mr. and Mrs. Coot would simply fly up into a tree and act like all the other birds and build their nest in a tree. Or maybe they could be like the ducks, chickens and Penguins and build their nest at any ol convenient place on or near the water/ground level.

Nope not the Coot. Just like successful Internet Marketers Mr. and Mrs. Coot just have to be different. They want to carve out a “special” place for their family and do so from the comfort of their “own space.”

One day eons ago The Coots decided they just had to have an island home. Well, darn it all, there were no Islands anywhere to be found. Mrs. Coot looked at Mr. Coot and said, “Well what the heck, let’s just build ourselves an Island.”

It sounded like a great Idea to Mr. Coot so he picked up a pebble and carried it out into the water and dropped it. But who could build their nest on one pebble?

So he picked up another pebble and took it out and dropped it in the same place in the water.

He went back to shore and continued the process one pebble at a time until he had dropped 3,000 pounds of pebbles in the water.

BEHOLD, beautiful Coot Island!

This is a true story, The Horned Coot to this day builds it’s islands in this manner.

So Internet Marketer, overnight success might come to some and get rich quick might be true for others. If you can do it more power to you.

In the mean time, take a lesson from the Old Coot and start doing something each day. Build your Island, one pebble at a time.

I think this really sums up the life of the Internet Marketer and Entrepreneur in general. You always have ups and downs but from learning and peristance you can take your steps, one pebble at a time, until one day you have an island.

Again check out the original source at Warrior Forum.

Good Luck.

Will

Billy Mays the Unknown Genius. Unknown? What? It’s all relative I guess but the fact remains I had never heard of Billy Mays. This may astound you if your from North America but down here is Aus, tucked all the way in tomorrow, he was a relative unknown.

This changed for me after receiving an email from Rich Schefren. Initially I thought he was upset by the death of Michael Jackson but rather it was of Billy Mays. Billy, as he was a relative unknown here, got me intrigued to find out what type of influence this guy would have to one of the greatest business building minds in the world. When I went to the Rich’s blog post I was taken back by the length of it but when I started reading I simply could not stop.

Billy Mays was the genius I had never heard of. Internet Marketers could learn a priceless amount by simply watching him in action. He had an unbelievable way of interacting with his audience in a way where he would have you dialing the phone and reaching for your credit card after 33 seconds of video. I now have a firm desire to purchase The Awesome Auger, a gardening tool that easily and effortlessly drills through your soil so you can plant and seed like you’ve never done before! I don’t care that I don’t have a garden let alone soil to drill into, I still want the Awesome Auger. It got me thinking ‘imagine I did have soil… how easy would it be to plant a whole load of herbs I’ll never use, like Thyme.’

I think every Internet Marketer or Entrepreneur should read Rich’s post and learn from the genius of Billy Mays. Learn from the psychological and subliminal approach he uses, not just the conscious stuff you notice on face value. Also when you find yourself buying the Awesome Auger remember you are probably not the only person who will never use it.

I guess the last couple of weeks have seen the world lose two geniuses and both times they have only been truly appreciated once they are gone.

I just need to let off a little steam here. I am an opportunistic person. I seek out opportunities, take advantage of them and then charge like a bull. I love Internet Marketing because it allows you to really take advantage of so many opportunities, its almost impossible to not be allured by it.

But then things happen and it just frustrates me to no end. The last week or so has been a time where the world has stopped and reflected on the passing of possibly one of the greatest performers ever to live and quite possibly, who will ever live. I’m of course talking about Michael Jackson, the undisputed King of Pop (you can tell I’m a bit of a fan, I’ll admit that).

I understand its human nature. I understand people will seek out opportunities. I understand there is a level of greed in what we do as entrepreneurs as well as Internet Marketers. However death is where I draw the line. I have been on countless forums over the past week with people celebrating their purchase of a cool domain name with talk of how much money they are going to make by ‘flipping it’. Yeh well I got news for you… be prepared to be disappointed.

www.michaeljacksonhasdied.com is not going to make you money. All it does is show you how far you will go to make a buck. To be honest, you are the people who fail. You are the people who give up. You are a weasel. What does this tell me? It tells me you put money on some kind of crazy pedestal and are so obsessed with it that you have no focus or drive. You are looking for the quick fix and the magic touch which will give you your break through. I’ll tell you now, its not coming.

I guarantee you none of the top marketers and entrepreneurs have gone out and purchased a ride on the back of the MJ bandwagon. They have better things to do, like grow their businesses and create fantastic value. In return for this they will be reimbused handsomely. All the while you try and claw back the $8 spent on your golden domain.

Rant over.

Ok I’m guessing you didn’t expect that one! Well I thought it would be nice for some relief and change it up a little bit (or a lot).

So what does Go-Karting and Internet marketing have in common? Well, not much except the fact that its fun, its competitive, efficiency is key and it can get expensive if your not careful. Actually you could say that you may learn a lot about Internet marketing and making money online in this post, or maybe not, I’m just having a bit of fun.

To give you a bit of background I have been racing competition go karts since 2002, competing in State and National championships regularly. Since 2006 I have been driving for PCR Karts Australia, competing in the elite 125cc class. Top speeds of around 150kph, 3g pulled through turns, brakes that make your eyes water and power to weight faster than pretty much any car on the road.

So want to know some tips and techniques that you can use to destroy your friends at the local kart track? Ok here they are my 3 top tips:

1) Progressive braking – a myth. Progressing braking is the worst thing you can do. You might think that pushing the brake harder and harder (progressively, like you would in a car) is the right thing to do but your wrong. Top drivers don’t push the brakes, they stand on them. Few things you need to understand, a go-kart has one brake at the back and if you push it too hard then its kinda like pulling up the handbrake suddenly. Also when you brake all the weight transfers to the front so if you brake progressively you are making your braking power proportional to the shifting of weight to the front. This is why there are so many spins under braking at your local track! Progressive braking may feel right but its completely wrong.

What you should do is actually brake the hardest when you start the braking process. The key is to slam the brake like your trying to rip the pedal off, no joke. Be prepared your wheels will ‘lock’ but its your job to ease off the brake until the lock stops. The point where your wheels stop locking is the point of optimal braking power, usually supported by a sweet ‘chirpy’ sound. I don’t recommend you do this off the bat, but practice the ’slamming’ of the brake when your on your own just to see the reaction of the car. The reason why this is effective is that you don’t suffer as much from weight shift and you are training yourself to be at the maximum braking power for the longest period of time. Master this and you’ll find 1.5-2 seconds per lap over your friends, no joke.

2) Turning – again with the progression myth. People think you need to turn gradually into the a corner. Again they are wrong. The rule of thumb is that the longer you can keep the steering wheel straight, the faster you will go. It’s all about efficiency and reducing the amount of time your tires are generating friction. Whenever friction is present your going slower and one of the ways friction occurs is though turning.

After you have finished braking (not during!… you’ll spin if you don’t know what your doing) turn the wheel quickly in the direction you want to go and once you feel you’ll make the corner apex (sharpest part of the corner) , straighten the wheel immediately and use the accelerator to tighten your line and help you exit the corner, don’t just keep turning. If you gradually turn the wheel your front tires won’t ‘bite’ and cause you to slide around without much pace. Also gradually turning will mean more time your wheels are spent ‘turning’ and this is inefficient (ie causes friction).

3) Weight – Your weight. People see race drivers on TV leaning their heads into the corner and naturally think this is the best way to turn a corner so they ‘lean in’ to the turn. Wrong! Race drivers are leaning their head to counter g-forces so their heads don’t lean to the side, not an attempt to shift body weight. When you turn a corner in a go-kart, or any car, the tires that are doing the most work are the outside tires. For example if you are turning left, your right tires take all the load. If you try to lean into the corner, you will try to load and put weight on the relatively ‘unused’ tires leading to an unnatural distribution of grip which would in most cases cause the car to understeer (won’t turn in). If you move your body weight to the outside of the kart then you will corner better than if you were to lean in. It’s a strange concept to get a grasp on but it works.

These are three points and if you do them correctly you’ll run rings around your friends. Put them all together correctly and your looking at about 3 – 3.5 seconds per lap if not more.

And again, what has this got to do with Internet Marketing and Entrepreneurship. Very little but you’ll thank me when the chance comes to put these into action.

Microsoft launched their attack on Google with their own search engine, Bing. It’s meant to change the way we think about search engines, or something like that. So I decided to search: “what is bing” using, none other than, the Bing search engine. Interestingly, this new generation search engine was unable find me the answer of what it actually is! I got results for an electrical shop (BingLee), BING the rigid polyurethane insulation industry in Europe and a bit of information about Bing Crosby. Naturally I head to Google and good old faithful tells me straight away.

Obviously I don’t have the greatest first impressions but I’m an open minded type of guy, I won’t judge right now.. I think time shall take care of that.

Anyone actually used it and found anything interesting or out of the ordinary compared to other search engines? I would be interested if you’d share a few things we could have a look at that exploits its potential.

I have to say, if I was to go out and find a “job” it would be there. A Business Review Weekly (BRW) study found that Google was the best place to work in Australia and apart from my own business, I would definitely agree.

Free Food, Picnic tables, Games Room and Free Food (you can tell where my interests lie!) are a few of the things that they offer to employees. My previous corporate job offered data entry tasks as a way to relax and rejuvenate… shows how backward some of the dinosaurs really are!

I am in the process of writing my first ebook. The ebook came out of my frustration with the whole Need Money To Make Money thing. It is yet to have a name so lets call it.. Book 1. How original.

As some of you may know, in one of my earlier business ventures I spent over 50k developing a product which never took off. 2 years of hard work and frustration led to nothing and I was left demoralised. However a little later I spent $45 and $70 respectively on 2 other projects which have since proved extremely profitable. So why was this?

The problem was I was basing my work on theories developed by people who wanted you to spend a whole heap of money. The theory was that you needed money to create a product in order to make you money. Society makes you believe that this is true and this is the way you have to do things.

Worst of all, individuals now use this as an excuse not to try and get out and do something on their own. Eventually it became the excuse for everyone any anyone who wasn’t where they wanted to be financially. Now this theory has become a viral institution and infected the minds of millions world wide.

Well my aim is to get the message out there and prove that this is not true. Financial freedom does not require you to invest thousands and thousands of dollars before you get going. And I will prove it to you. It does not require you to work 18 hour days for the next 20 yrs. And I will prove it to you. It does not require you to do anything unethical and I’ll prove it to you.

So this is my little super soft pre-launch. The book isn’t released but if you want to get a FREE copy of my new ebook when it is released then please put your details below and I’ll keep you updated and make sure you know about it first.

Oh an I’ll also throw in a little present when you sign-up . To find out what it is fill the form and check your email!!
