I have a feeling though, that because the doom and gloom feeling that's being spread, people are more likely to use extra discretionary and disposable cash to simply save for tough times ahead. Saving doesn't improve the economy and this unfortunately forms a vicious cycle and actually <em>extends </em>the period of uncertainty which these people are trying to avoid in the first place!
